Daniel Kornfeld, M.D., B.A. in Biology, Class of 2014, M.D. from SLU School of Medicine, 2018,, says, “Saint Louis University’s commitment to service played a large role in my selection of SLU as my undergraduate university and later on also played a role in my selection to stay at SLU for medical school. I was quite dedicated to service throughout college in organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Reach Out and Read, and I remained committed to service while in medical school.”
Major decisions
“I majored in biology. My favorite biology class was the Biology of Fishes course. On one Saturday, our entire class went out to Castlewood State Park and got into the Meramec River to capture fish with large nets. We documented and categorized the fish, just like any ichthyologist would actually do! It was my main opportunity to go out in the field and participate in a scientific endeavor.”

Students accepted into this highly selective program have the opportunity to gain conditional early acceptance to the SLU School of Medicine. Well Prepared for Medical School
“SLU does a wonderful job preparing students for medical school. There is no grading on a bell curve in the undergraduate basic science courses, so everyone who displays competency on the material will succeed and also has the tools to perform well on the MCAT. I felt extremely well prepared for the rigorous curriculum of medical school.”

Valuable experience
“My favorite experience I had was the legal internship I did to complete the Pre-Law Scholars Program. I worked at a local nonprofit law firm, and not only was I able to work on real cases (which is a rare opportunity when you're not yet in law school!) and see what lawyers do, but I also got to experience firsthand the important role lawyers play in our communities. The legal internship was more than just a box I had to check before graduation; it was an experience that really reaffirmed my desire to become a lawyer and one I likely wouldn't have had if I wasn't part of the Pre-Law Scholars Program."

Take classes taught by law school professors, gain experiences in the courtroom and have opportunities to work with local attorneys.
