What does it mean to be
Jesuit-educated?

The Jesuit tradition is built on educating the whole person — mind, body and spirit. While you learn and grow in the classroom, you’ll develop relationships with professors and classmates from around the world, dive into extracurricular activities and explore the community around you. You’ll be challenged to ask hard questions and look beyond easy answers. Your ideas will be formed into your identity. You’ll leave SLU inspired and prepared to improve the world in your own unique way.

We’re honored

U.S. News & World Report ranks Saint Louis University among the nation’s top research universities, and many of our programs are in the top 50.

SLU is one of the oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities in the nation, and is listed among Niche’s Top-15 Catholic Colleges. It has been named a green college by The Princeton Review, as well as making Sierra Club’s list of “cool schools." It was also called out by Spoon University as having one of best dining halls in the country at Fresh Gatherings.

Kat Martinez, Class of 2019, says, "As soon as I stepped on campus and had my tour, I could just see myself here, and I felt so welcome. I stayed overnight, and I remember thinking ‘Four years of this is not enough.’"

What’s a Billiken?

From ESPN to Buzzfeed, everyone loves to talk about SLU’s mascot, the Billiken. Here’s the inside scoop: The Billiken is a symbol of the way things ought to be and a good luck charm that dates back to 1908. It’s said that buying a Billiken is lucky, but to have one given to you is even better.

A Billiken is unique, just like SLU students. While Billikens have a lot of things in common — like intelligence, passion and a drive to serve — on our campus, everyone is encouraged to be themselves. True to our Jesuit mission, all are welcome at SLU.
